About Us

WHO WE ARE

B’nai Shalom V’Tikvah (BSVT) is a reform Jewish Synagogue located in Ajax Ontario.  We were established in May 1994 and have worshiped at various locations throughout Durham. We have finally settled at St. Paul’s United Church and have a wonderful relationship with them.

WHAT WE DO

We celebrate the Jewish Holy Days and Shabbat in a family friendly way.  Even though our congregation is still small, we get wonderful turn-out for our services, especially the fun ones such as the Latke Challenge, Shabbat Shira, and our “Chai”, guest speaker series.

WHY YOU SHOULD BE WITH US

We have an active congregation and are a volunteer run organization.  Come and join us for services, activities  or parties.  This is our 25th Anniversary year and the events will be numerous.

OUR MEMBERS

We are Jews who were raised Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist, Orthodox, or Secular. We are Jews who have or have not been Bar/Bat Mitzvah. We are Jews by choice or part of an interfaith family. Our common thread is that we are all interested in furthering our spiritual life, singing, Jewish education and community participation. We invite you to come to a service or one of our activities or call us at 905.428.2580

IN A CHURCH????

For those that have concerns about meeting in a church, our Rabbi has consecrated the places we meet and we are NOT Jews for Jesus.  It is merely a wonderful welcoming space for us to share and celebrate Judaism.
