About Us

WHO WE ARE

B’Nai Shalom v’Tikvah (BSVT) is a reform Jewish Synagogue located in Ajax Ontario.  We were established in May 1994 as The Durham Region Reform Synagogue.

WHAT WE DO

We celebrate the Jewish Holy Days and Shabbat in a family friendly way.  Our congregation currently has approximately 40 plus families providing for wonderful participation for our services.  Our Congregants especially look forward to the December service Latke Challenge, Shabbat Shira, and our “Chai”, guest speaker series throughout the year.

WHY YOU SHOULD BE WITH US

If you want to be part of an active, fun, family-oriented and down to earth congregation, then BSVT is for you.  Please come and join us for services, activities or parties and see for yourself.

OUR MEMBERS

We are Jews who were raised Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist, Orthodox, or Secular. We are Jews who have or have not been Bar/Bat Mitzvah. We are Jews by choice or part of an interfaith family. Our common thread is that we are all interested in furthering our spiritual life, singing, Jewish education and community participation. We invite you to come to a service or one of our activities or call us at 905.428.2580

WHERE WE ARE

We currently hold services at St. Paul’s United Church and have a wonderful relationship with them.  For those that have concerns about meeting in a church, our Rabbi has consecrated the places we meet (we are NOT Jews for Jesus).  It is merely a wonderful welcoming space for us to share and celebrate Judaism.
